Job Description

Operational efficiency

 Provide administrative support services to the clinical team
 Collate site headcount & plan for MSP as per monthly targets set by client
 Create a symbiotic relationship with EAP/Wellness & Safety to achieve MSP targets
 Maintain correct filing system, ensuring confidentiality of employee data. Use of shredder effectively
 Ensure confidentiality of employee record( POPIA) by adhering to NOH Privacy Policy
 Conduct employee entrance assessments e.g. Covid 19 screening , identify & report abnormalities to OHNP
 Have full understanding of OREP’s to execute appropriate & relevant tests (Audiometry/ Spirometry and
Vision)
 Adhere to standard operating procedures, legal and quality standards when performing audiometry,
spirometry and vision screening tests to achieve efficiency and quality output
 Inform occupational health nurse practitioner promptly of any abnormalities
 Prevent loss of stock and equipment by proper control, inventory keeping
 Contain costs without compromising quality
 Timeously answer all telephonic calls received. Use proper telephone etiquette, when answering the phone
or making phone calls
 Meet customer needs effectively and build productive customer relationships by taking responsibility for
customer satisfaction surveys
 Managing one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently and within deadlines
 Inform OHNP promptly of any administrative and client related problem
 Any reasonable request directed to the incumbent by the manager
Patient Care
 Keep administrative work relating to employee records and data up to date
 Accurately capture clinic data on IMS and create stats on a monthly basis
 Collate clinic data weekly/ monthly end reports to Netcare and to the client
 Proper telephone etiquette & answer calls immediately
 Confirm medical surveillance appointments/bookings daily by keeping an appointment diary
 Send correctly completed COF’s to client within 24 hours of medical. File all COF’s in a manner that would
make it easy to retrieve when requested by client
 Keep reception area and filing neat and tidy. Adhere to safe keeping of documents, following the NOH
Privacy Policy
 Collate daily booking of employees referred for further management and follow up appointments
 Management and filing of medical and administrative records, ensuring best-practice standards needed to
maintain the structure, content and legal requirements
 Provide all documentation required for the medical surveillance and assist with the completion of documents
 Ensure employees are booked for a follow up date in accordance with the clinical requirements before they
leave the clinic
 Report no-shows to EAP/ Risk/ line managers daily
 Ensure data is accurately captured on a daily basis on the clinics information system and monthly data
template
 Assist the clinic sister with further bookings for investigations and referrals
 Adhere to all standard operating procedures to achieve efficiency, quality output and uniformity of
performance, while reducing miscommunication and failure to comply
 Collate daily booking of employees when due for their medical
 Apply principles of SAPS & ISOMETRIX as per clients’ requirements
 Prevent loss of equipment by checking of equipment and updating the asset & inventory register
 Monitor usage of stationary & minimise wastage by using stationary efficiently
 Stock control of consumables used by updating the stock control register
Equipment Management
 Report malfunctioning equipment promptly to UM/ OHNP
 Ensure has correct knowledge on handling & operating testing equipment by reading the user manuals of all
equipment
 Have basic knowledge of minor faults that can be fixed internally by familiarising self with the equipment
manual, including trouble shooting notes
 Ensure calibration of equipment is in accordance with standards and protocols
 Complete medical equipment checklist
Increase the image of NOH to achieve customer retention and growth
 Maintaining professional appearance and behaviour & Always in Netcare uniform
 Ensure to comply with NOH privacy policy
Support Quality Management Systems
 Adhere to the Netcare PPE protocols to prevent spread of infectious diseases and submit Weekly PPE check
list to Regional Operation Manager
 Maintain good relationship with business client by attending to clients’ requests promptly
 Adhere to the Netcare values by treating customers with care and dignity & compassion
 Infection control: Monitoring and management of medical waste. Ensure that the collection & destruction
certificates are filed appropriately
 Filing of all other clinic related forms e.g. screening forms etc
 Focus on consistently meeting customer requirements and enhancing their satisfaction
 Ensure confidentiality of data and medical files at all times
 Attend to the client promptly
 Ensure a tidy reception area and desk
 Prevent medical errors and continuously improve healthcare quality
 Performing audiometry, spirometry and vision screening tests
 Ensure confidentiality of data at all times in accordance to the NOH Private Policy & POPIA
 Evaluate individual employee general health history & previous occupational history
 Conduct audio/ Spiro/vision as per individual OREP
 Manage clinic appointments for internal and or external audits.
 Coordinate all clinic activities (M.S.P, stats, reports, clinical audits etc.)
 Adhere & have knowledge of all Covid 19 & National Department of Health protocols
 Encourage employees to complete the ‘ customer satisfaction survey cards) at the end of the clinic visit.

Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY
The Clinical Engineering Technician is responsible for the management and maintenance of all medical
equipment as per the manufacturer’s specifications and Health Technology Regulations.
KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
 The duties of the post include but are not limited to the following, and are carried out in accordance with
Netcare’s Policies and Procedures.
 Responsibility for the management of all clinical equipment.
 Maintenance of all clinical related equipment per manufacturer’s specifications and Health Technology
Regulations.
 Planning and executing regular equipment services to comply with manufacturer specifications.
 Interaction and training of all staff regarding medical equipment.
 Purchasing and motivating for the purchasing of medical equipment.
 Interaction with Clinical Equipment Coordinators (CEC’s), Medical Equipment Maintainers (MEM’s) and Clinical
Engineering Technician Assistants (CETAs) on technical and financial issues related to clinical equipment.
 Develop and maintain trends of equipment failure and report to Netcare Technical Division, in the absence
of a Clinical Engineering Manager.
 Where applicable, evaluate National projects implemented, and provide status reports to Netcare Technical
Division.
 Reporting on clinical equipment to the Clinical Equipment Manager / Technical Services Manager
 Liaising with medical equipment suppliers to stay informed and trained in latest technological development.
 Interacting with Hospital Management in the absence of a Clinical Equipment Manager.
 Develop collaborative relationships to help accomplish work goal.
 Actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goals.
 Interact with Hospital Management , Ward and Theatre Managers on a regular basis, in the absence of a
Clinical Engineering Manager, addressing issues including but not limited to status of repairs, planned services,
incidents, repair costs and capital equipment purchase
 Interact and train all staff regarding medical equipment to familiarise users with medical equipment.
 Purchase and motivate for the purchasing of medical equipment.
 Implement policies and procedures as directed by Netcare Technical Division.
 Liaise with suppliers to schedule preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance.
 Obtain required quotes for capital medical equipment purchases and maintenance work.

Qualifications and Experience

SKILLS PROFILE
EDUCATION
 Member of the South African Association of Clinical Engineers (CEASA).
 Eligible for professional registration as a Technician at the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA);
 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering: Clinical Engineering with two years additional experience and
training in the maintenance and management of medical equipment in a Hospital environment.
WORK EXPERIENCE
 A proven track record in the medical field with a minimum 1 year relevant experience
