Demonstrated experience in three or more of the following areas of statistics: repeated measures analyses; multivariate methods; survival methods and longitudinal analyses; spatial analyses; design and analysis of complex survey designs; and/or design and analysis of clinical trials
Experience in teaching and mentoring/supervision of students
High levels of competence and experience in communicating statistical concepts and the results of statistical analyses required; experience in scientific writing and publications is required

• Experience in teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students general physiology, physical activity
for public health and/or NCDs related to physical activity
• A proven track record in research publications and conference presentations together with leading a
research team within the area of physical activity for public health and/or NCDs related to physical activity
• Evidence of productive research collaborations
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Evidence of having secured research funding to support their research activities
• A proven track record in the supervision of postgraduate students up to the doctoral level
• Experience in management (of staff and research projects)
• Experience in leadership within the tertiary education sector
• Evidence of raising public awareness of relevant research findings
• Recognition for leadership in physical activity for public health and/or NCDs related to physical activity

Professor and Head of Department • A Medical Specialist, within Internal Medicine with a minimum 5 years experience.
• Registration as a Specialist Physician (FCP (SA) or HPCSA recognized equivalent qualification)
• Registered experience in the speciality of Medicine is mandatory. A qualification that is registerable with the
HPCSA as a medical specialist.
• At least 5 years experience in leadership/management positions.
• A record of scholarship and experience in the areas of clinical service delivery, teaching, training and research.
• Experience and knowledge of the public health sector in South Africa.
• A track record of international scholarship and research.
• Track record of attracting funding through clinical studies and research grants.
• Track record of teamwork and building effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
• Track record of mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.
